Pregame was all about the jerseys. Postgame was all about Mark Loh. “After a night like this, there isn’t really much to say”, said Loh after scoring 4 goals in Reptar’s 8-2 win.
It was the kind of humility that you don’t often see around Reptar. But after opening up the season with a tie, the 3 time defending champions are taking nothing for granted.
Down to only 8 skaters, they fell behind 1-0 to a Trolls squad that only had 5 skaters. But that goal could not take away from the fact that Reptar was absolutely dominating the game. Great goaltending was the only thing keeping it close.
Tied at 1 heading into the second period, Reptar finally started to break Trolls down. Long periods of possession were finally turning into chances. And eventually these chances became goals, despite continued goaltending excellence from Trolls. Reptar was able to take control though and the lead was 5-1 after 2. The game was over by this point and the 3rd period was nothing more than a formality. Greg Stofman was able to complete his hat trick before Trolls pulled one back to make the final 8-2.
With the win Reptar improves to 1-0-1 and remains right in the middle of the playoff picture. They will return to the ice next Sunday at 5 as they take on Team America in a rematch of the Fall 2010 championship game.
