Alumni Update 10/12

October 12, 2011

As the season begins, many Alums are finding themselves in new places.  Here is all of this weeks news on former Huskies in the Pro Ranks.

  • Joe Vitale has started off the season well, winning 2nd star after a 2 assist performance last night.  Great to see him having some success.
  • Jake Newton is headed to Lake Erie, Colorado’s AHL affiliate, where he will hopefully get off to a better start.  His minor league career has stalled since leaving Northeastern.
  • Chad Costello will be playing for the Winnipeg Jets’ ECHL team this year.  He was unable to crack the AHL, despite having a decent finish there last season.
  • Dennis McCauley has joined Dave Strathman and Louis Liotti on the Reading Royals (ECHL)  You would think a guy like McCauley would at least be able to make an AHL roster.
  • Brad Thiessen looks to overcome a rough playoff series that stuck with him all summer.  He appears NHL ready, i’ts just matter of opportunity.
  • Brodie Reid made his professional debut this week.
  • Jason Guerriero has been named an Assistant Coach at Holy Cross.  Could he be the future Head Coach of the Huskies?
  • Kyle Kraemer will miss 6 weeks due to a lower body injury.
  • Greg Cronin is helping the Leafs PK in a big way.
