One month is in the books. Maybe its just me, but it feels like there has been a lot more conference games than we usually have at this point. Also, we added a blogroll to our sidebar that features all of the other Hockey East Blogs we pull from. Check them out.
- Weekly Awards: Player : Matt Mangene (Maine) and Ryan Flanigan (Merrimack), Defensive Player: Matt DiGirolamo (UNH), Rookie : John Gaudreau (BC)
- Monthly Awards: Player : Bill Arnold (BC), Goaltender: Joe Cannata (Merrimack), Rookie: John Gaudreau (BC)
- Yep, John Gaudreau is the Rookie of the Month. 9 points in 8 games. What a great pick up by BC.
- BC continued their great start by sweeping Lowell this weekend.
- Obviously a disappointing weekend for Lowell, but better weeks may lie ahead.
- UMass debuted new jerseys this weekend. You can see them here. Spoiler Alert: They look a lot better than BC’s new ones.
- Fight Mass wraps up a tough weekend for the Minuteman, as they let a huge lead slip away on Saturday to BU, which gave them 1 point on the weekend instead of 3.
- BU, of course, was happy to take those points.
- Merrimack is now 6-0 after taking 2 from Vermont at the Gut over the weekend.
- Maine completed the third sweep of the weekend over PC. Though PC did force OT on Friday.
- Former Hockey East players Gustav Nyquist (Maine) and Nick Bonino (BU) were called up to the NHL this week.
- Mike McMahon, of Warrior Rink Rat, tweeted today that “UConn and Holy Cross are ‘exploring the opportunity’ to join Hockey East” I would say those 2 and RPI are the most likely candidates.
- NBC released their broadcast schedule today: The big news is that they will have the Hockey East playoffs, which were previously shown on NESN. The only other HE games feature BC and BU…and Vermont?
- And Frozen Fenway Round 2 is officially sold out. And we are officially still bitter that Northeastern is not involved.
