Figures right after we post our weekly Hockey East update all hell breaks loose on the news wire. So here is what you need to know:
- Via Andrew Merritt (Waltham News Tribune) on Twitter, Northeastern’s game on January 14th that was scheduled to be at BC, will now be played at Fenway. This will be a week after the previously announced Frozen Fenway doubleheader that includes Maine, UNH, UMass and Vermont.
- The first game of the doubleheader hasn’t been announced yet, but there will be one.
- Hockey East has signed a multi-year deal with NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus). They will only show 3 regular season Hockey East games this season, but they will also be broadcasting 4 Hockey East Playoff games (Final, 2 Semi’s, and 1 Quarterfinal)
- NESN will also broadcast the playoffs and NBC Sports will be blacked out in New England for those games (via Fangs Bite on twitter)
Obviously its great that Northeastern finally gets a chance to play at Fenway, even if the lure of the outdoor game has lost its shine. And its great news for the conference that they will get their playoffs shown live nationally. So it’s an exciting day for the Huskies and for Hockey East. Stay tuned for more info on the Fenway game, including ticket info and news on the first game.
